A Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, a Embaixada Irlandesa no Brasil, o Consulado Geral da Irlanda no Brasil e o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Inglês: Estudos Linguísticos e Literários apresentam "Irish Lives: The Cinema of Alan Gilsenan - Part III", nos dias 18 à 20 de maio de 2016, no Campus Universitário João David Ferreira Lima. O evento reunirá uma mostra de cinema e apresentações de seminários. Entrada gratuita.

O Programa de Pós-Graduação em Inglês - PPGI tem por finalidade a formação e o aprimoramento de pesquisadores e docentes nas áreas de Estudos Linguísticos e Literários em inglês, com ênfase na Linguística Aplicada e nas Literaturas de Língua Inglesa.

9:30 - 10:30 — Lecture 1 — Professor Owen Dudley Edwards (University of Edinburgh): "Casement in the World, the War, and the Words: His Impact on History and Literature". Moderation: Ambassador Brian Glynn.

10:30 -10:45 — Coffee break

10:45 - 12:45 — Presentation and screening of The Ghost of Roger Casement (2002/90min). Q&A with Alan Gilsenan. Moderation: Professor José Roberto O'Shea (PPGI/UFSC).

14:30 - 15:30 — Round Table I — Transnational and Travel Encounters in Literature and Film. Professor Anelise Corseuil (PPGI/UFSC) and Professor Jose Gatti (PPGI/UFSC). Moderation: Dr. Lincoln Paulo Fernandes (PPGI/UFSC).

10:45 - 12:45 — Presentation and screening of A Vision:A Life of W B. Yeats (2014/75min). Q&A with Alan Gilsenan. Moderation: Consul General Sharon Lennon.

With cast of UFSC and UDESC students and theatre practitioners. Moderation: Deputy Consul General of Ireland Ciara Gilvarry.

10:45 - 12:15 — Presentation and screening of The Yellow Bittern: The Life and Times of Liam Clancy (2009/69min). Q&A with Alan Gilsenan. Moderation: Dr. Alberto Heller (composer and musician).

14:00 - 15:00 — Brazilian launch of The Digital Platform for Contemporary Irish Writing, with Professor Margaret Kelleher (UCD/IFI). Moderation: Dr. Beatriz Kopschitz Bastos (PPGI/UFSC).

15:00 - 15:15 — Coffee break

15:15 - 17:00 — Presentation and special screening of The Road to God Knows Where (1988/55min). Q&A with Alan Gilsenan. Moderation: Professor Lance Pettitt.

17:00 - 18:00 — Book and DVD launch: A estrada para Deus sabe onde /The Road to God Knows Where, by Alan Gilsenan, edited by Lance Pettitt and Beatriz Kopschitz Bastos (Florianopolisz EdUFSC, 2015), with Professor Margaret Kelleher and Professor Fabio Lopes da Silva. Followed by refreshments.
